Friday Stuffs.
So Sunday at 6 workday. Monday at 6 workday. Finished by Tuesday. Seriously. I know we all want to fix up our stuff for the BFA gallery jury.
So Dang since you couldn't make it to BFA Luis and Al critiqued your flashing shot and I put it on the server. It is a suggestion of what you should do.
Crits from class that I remember:
Less panning.
Maya got chubby in Al's club shot
Speed up the craziness in the club shot
Club scene needs pills
Hallway shadow
No Zombie Popo. Teeth make people less zombie. gaping holes not good.
Clear up or redo flashing shots(Working on it.)
The girl in Alvyn's shot needs less detail and more form

The In-House trailer for Friday
As you all know the In-House trailer is due on Friday. Our stuff doesn't have to be done, so don't panic. But if you guys could post your stuff by 7 PM tomorrow as IMAGE SEQUENCES OR AFTER EFFECTS FILE. That would be awesome, but what would be more awesome is if we would meet in person tomorrow night at like 8PM to go over things then be done by 9PM. If you can't make it I understand because most everyone but me lives kind of far, but that's why it is important to get things done early so if I need to call you about something. Plus I personally would like to sleep.

Dragged Scene
This was when two of the guys kidnapped Maya and dragged her from the hallway into the apartment. It's a WIP but this is somewhat the gestures of Maya and the type of hallway that I'm working on. Any critiques at this point before I roughly render it out with textures and everything else would be great like gestures, composition, lighting? In Kim's comp, she had about three different windows to the right but I thought the window would have too much light and it would distract from the main focal point which is her face. I was wondering if you guys want a window anywhere in the shot. If not I'll make the light shine from above just like how I planned out with this super super rough shot.

Again, trying to get the book to read and readjusted to try to correct eye-trace problems. Animation is only to get the "wind-blowing" concept. I'm adding extra pages and making the grass move too. Text and timing is all conceptual.

Color Script (Al's Version)
Here is the color script that I've been working on. There is not a great deal of continuity in the progression, but colors are picked by the feel and lighting of that particular scene. trailers do not tend to have a continuous color progression like movies do. If we stick to a progression we may miss the emotional value of the shots we have picked. If you already have color, look at this, but you don't have to stick to it.
Some Notes about this script:These are IDEAS for color. Do not exclusively drag and drop from these shots. Also don't put these as a color layer over your black and white images (it will F*@& with your image). The lower images are how I interpreted some of the shots based on this color script. You'll notice that the color is only inspired by the movie rather than dictated by it.

One of the paints
I'm actually painting this in grayscale but I threw a quick color layer on top so you get an idea of the colors I am going to put on. I actually think I am going to tone down the colors even more for the real color pass.
But yeah like the whole bathroom still has to be painted and I need to put the tile floor in. So I feel I'l like 50% percent done... with this one...
I also think I am going to add more light hitting the floor around her and bounce light on the toilet and cabinets.

Hey group, posted some music up on the server. The first clip is a compilation of songs I've done in the past, which means its copyrighted. I'll have to ask what the perimeters for that are. I'd say use them for now if you want and we can deal with it later. The other two recordings are things I've fiddled with in Garage Band. Not copyrighted.

I for got to reupload this on Saturday... but I changed the hair this morning so it matches Al's design.
So I want to try and get this to a realistic point(which I am clearly far from) before I animate the layers.
I was thinking I'd add freckles and bruises at some point too. But The medical band isn't reading as it should yet at all.
But I am going to continue to work on my still shots for a while then return to this.

So here is a revised list of what people are doing. If you already started the things that I took from you to give to Luis PLEASE TELL ME ASAP. I took minor shots that people weren't excited about or arn't working as they are and gave them to Luis. And Luis if you have any ideas to which you would like to add to this trailer tell us about it.
WHAT EVERYONE IS ASSIGNED:
Luis: the trucker shot where he drops the rosary beads(Ask Al exactly what is going on in this shot and if there is a complete character design for the trucker... it's only his torso down so it shouldn't matter much), the beating of the kid in Vegas shot in the section of flashing(The composition needs to read strong and quickly with strong values), Can you think of any more dramatic shots to add during the quick flashes?
Dang: Starshot, hall way, one or two of the flashing shots there is a shot with her being dragged by two men and a shot of the seedy side of Vegas with kneeyon lights if you want to do those
Christy: Opening panning shot, Photos(except the star shot which will just be a cropped version of Dangs painting), Popo dying
Al: The goths robbing the guy in the hotel room(It seemed like this one would be really easy to take to finish), Maya lighting the match, Candyman pan down to club shot. Plus your probably going to have to do really quick paintovers of everyone's Maya so they feel like the same girl.
Kim: Mainly flashing shots(her on the floor, Brandon being killed, being torture after she was kidnapped), Maya falling through the buildings, the transition of her pulling the ban to the money to the fire shot
Alvyn: The whole shot from the rehab center to her getting picked up by the truck. Truck design
Christine: Rosary beads the truck driver drops, and exterior of the Berkeley house

hey all, posted a little clip on the server that I couldn't explain in words last night. It's in my week02 folder, labeled w/ today's date.
Revisions on the Animatic for tonight
I still have things to fix. Like I want to make the shadow side of Ben Franklin's face on the 100 dollar bill become Maya so that in the fire shot she doesn't jump. And switching her to be black in the running scene and clearing out some of the trees, but those are minor things. And then the new part is just roughed in.
Also I think Alvyn had a different angle in mind for the shot with the truck which would probably be more effective.
But tell me what you think of the new order of things and the new transitions. I hope to do some more fixes tomorrow night. And Al told me he would work on the colorscripting part so we would know what to which parts of Skyfall to color pick from.

-Take out the graveyard shot and have a little more animation in the shot over Popo dying. Like Maya's hand tensing.
-The scene where she runs in front of the truck needs to be more dramatic.
-Flashing scenes need to have very strong values to read
-Expression on the firestarter's face needs to go from serious to angry
-Instead of the needle going into her arm try having her tightening the band
-More graphic possibilities for the flashing shots so they read. Example the shadows on the floor.
-Perhaps she slides towards the truck or running and falls in front of the truck
-Hall at the end should tilt different angles like it is twisting
-Falling photos showing happy times
-Try reordering the animatic with the Candyman to falling transition towards the end
-Introduce Nini and have a little more build up with the calm happy times
-For the forest running shot Alvyn wanted to experiment with a strobe effect as to where you can see the character when she is running

Transition idea
Hey I did this idea really quickly tonight. The faculty had issue with Maya actually injecting herself. Then I know Al and I had discussed that the transition to the money on fire shot wasn't working. So how I intend for this to start out with her tensing and beginning to lower the needle then the transformation begins.

Next Meeting?
Hey guys, first off, I apologize if there are any misinterpretations about my last comment of not feeling like wanting to work on this project. I love to contribute and will do anything you ask me. I'm just not as focused and inspired about this trailer as Christy or Sparky so I don't really have an image about how this trailer would have worked out. I haven't been turning in a lot of work and I apologize for that a well but when we have the animatic. I'll work my ass off for it. Just letting you guys know so that I can take the loads of work from you when it is overwhelming.
