Trailer Beat Updates

Hey Group,

The storyboard students met with Dave Yee today, and got some advice that I think is important for you all to know.

Dave said not to treat this project like a movie trailer, but instead to create 12-15 story moments that serve as "long reads," much like a comic book or children's book.

This means I need to go back to square one and reassess how to show these shots, but by Friday regardless I'll have what we need to show. All it means is that I might not be able to show anything to you in time for you to do some paintings (Xander and Christy). Sorry about that.

So... with that said, the 12 - 15 shots will include:

Maya writing in notebook
Maya as a baby
Maya as kid
Maya with grandfather at the observatory
Grandfather on death bed
Maya with pedophile in hotel
Maya in Oregon rehab
Maya getting picked up by trucker
Maya in Las Vegas
Counterfeit money burning
FBI (not sure what to show yet)
Maya in bed with demons closing in

Anyway, that's the 12... please feel free to lend suggestions or additional shots you'd like in there.

I'm going to B2 to rethumb, and then I'll be going for the final shots tonight and tomorrow.

GO TEAM GRIT

  1. There are no Maya happy moments? We are going all out for all the dark moments of this girl? Anyways, if those are the 12 shots I want to take on Maya in Oregon rehab, and Maya with Pedophile in hotel.

  2. Landing in Chiloe was also very important.
I think Chiloe, Daniel, and the notebook were 3 important things. If you go by chronology, they'd all happen @ the end, after Vegas.
Running from the burning rehab was more important than being in rehab... "maya as kid" and "maya @ observatory" could be the same scene.

I've painted maya on her bed w/ demons already, I also wanted to do the Popo death-scene + maya as a baby/kid w/ her grandfather @ the observatory.

    1. I want to do Chiloe, basically. And the pre-fucked-up Maya.

  3. Cool! Thanks for the input Christy, this helps me out. I'm about ten shots in, so I'm doing alright here.

  4. I might want to do some parts when she was a kid or the part where she's getting picked up by the truck driver.
